In this work, I am exploring our relationships to both our forefathers and mothers and potential future generations. As modern genetics tells us, we carry in ourselves DNA from both our parents, which they had in their turn received from their parents. Thus we hold in each of our cells the coded trace of previous generations. However as scientist readily admit, we are the product of both nature (50% genetic influences) and nurture (50% environmental influences). Thus I feel that I also carry inside me the experiences and values of previous generations.

In some ways this piece is a three dimensional drawing, using the wire like a line drawing. This is a technique I first developed in my first year of study at the Art Academy with 'Self portrait on a single wire'. In this piece I returned to the technique, refining and simplifying to find the essential figure.
